T’AI CHI FOR ARTHRITIS


Described as “meditation in motion,” tai chi consists of a standing or sitting person performing a series of postures or bodily movements in a slow and graceful manner, with each movement flowing without pause to the next. Our classes include simple, low impact movements that increase flexibility, balance, range of motion, vitality, relaxation, mental focus, strength and overall well being. Each student can learn at his/her own pace in a relaxed, noncompetitive atmosphere. We offer both a beginners and an advanced class so all levels are welcome!

STRETCH AND RESTORE


Our stretch and restore class is great for any beginner that wants to focus on flexibility, breathing, and posture. The exercises and stretches are simple and easy but effective for restoring your health. The class is done mostly from the mat and with light strengthening and techniques used to fix postural imbalances.

YOGA


Yoga is a mind and body practice with historical origins in ancient Indian philosophy. Like other meditative movement practices used for health purposes, various styles of yoga typically combine physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation or relaxation. This fact sheet provides basic information about yoga, summarizes scientific research on effectiveness and safety, and suggests sources for additional information.

CORE STRENGTH


This is an exercise class that is focused on building core strength without bulk, improving flexibility, agility, and helping to prevent injury. It involves a series of controlled movements that engage both your body and mind. This class consists of full body exercises done on a mat in either a sitting or lying down position. The primary focus is on awareness of the spine, proper breathing, core strength and flexibility.

FITNESS FOR PARKINSON’S


An exercise program designed to help slow the progression of Parkinson’s and improve quality of life. Major areas to be addressed are balance, coordination, flexibility, range of motion, gait, and posture. Classes encourage patients to make big motions with arms and legs to combat the disease, which tries to restrict their movements. Vocalization exercises are included to keep the vocal cords loud and strong.

LOW IMPACT BOOT CAMP


This class provides an opportunity to increase your strength and endurance by focusing on total body high intensity exercises. Boot camp workouts can vary but generally include a fairly intense mix of strength training and aerobic elements. Utilizing kettle bells, dumbbells, power lifts, and tabata exercises you will be pushed to your limits in a safe, yet challenging way.

BALANCE AND BONES


A great class to join if you want to work on your balance and increase muscle strength. Most of the exercises in this class are done from a seated position and it includes some balancing exercises and weight training. Different games are incorporated which challenge memory, balance, hand eye coordination, and agility.

BOXING FOR PARKINSON’S


This exciting and dynamic class uses non-contact boxing movements as well as vocalization skills. Power exercises and strengthening are also incorporated and all can be done from a chair or standing. With quartlery testing done to show results and track progress join us for our very own program designed to fight back against Parkinson’s.
